Yes I am 10 days late to this post, but a lot has been going on. This will be a life update and then a look into the new year.
I had almost a week and a half off for Christmas and New Year’s. It gave me time to rest and recuperate, as well as really end 2018 with a number of blog posts. The rest is what I really needed, but I also created a to-do list a mile long. I was able to get so many things accomplished that really set me up for the new year.
2019 has already started off with so many changes.
January 4th was my last day at my job. It was a day I knew was coming since August 2018, but it was still heartbreaking. I had been with this company for almost 3 years. They were so good to me and the benefits were out of this world! I’m really sad to be leaving them (still mourning!), but it was a change I had to make for my family.
On January 7th, I started my new job! This is a fun company that has worked for my company for years. I’ve been working (and playing golf) alongside this crew for the past two and a half years. I’m excited to really jump in and get working. (Right now I’m waiting for my computer to come in and I’ve been reading the employee handbook for two days.)
The whole transition has been smooth over all, but it’s been a tough on mentally.
This blog has been a fun hobby for me and I really enjoy it! I’m going to keep with my regular schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with other posts as needed/wanted. I already have a list of reviews to write, and I’m almost drowning, but hey, that means CONTENT!!!! And allows for wiggle room for some larger books to be read.
Finding Land has started a book club by reading The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. I am really excited about this since I have been meaning to go back through and read the books and then watch all the movies and really see the differences. You can check that our here and also interact on her Facebook page.
Christopher Paolini has published a new book of short stories. I own in, but I really need to go through and re-read the whole series. I own them, all signed!!! He actually showed me a sneak peak of the cover art when I met him again at Dragoncon 2018. I really thought it was just a new poster or something, but it was the cover of this surprise addition! I’m debating about going to see the book signing and Q&A near me, mainly because I have not read it yet AND I will hopefully be seeing him at Dragoncon 2019 and he can sign my book there.
I have a pile of books that I need to read. I do not plan on doing a challenge this year. I attempt the Popsugar challenge every year, and I lose interest/fall behind every year. I haven’t even gone through my 2018 books to see if I made it through all the categories. My only goal is to read 100 books in 2019. I achieved that just barely in 2018 (audiobook on the way hope from a NYE party). I want to be able to read what I want to read and not feel any pressure whatsoever. Because for me, reading is supposed to be fun and enjoyable.
I hope you all had a great start to the New Year!
